This is the case of via delle Tre Cannelle in the Trevi district, a side street of via di S. Eufemia, parallel to via del Carmine and cut perpendicularly by via IV Novembre, which it passes beyond and then flows into it again. The street, as reported in the "Description of Rome of the year 1824", takes its name from a small vanished fountain, made up of three fistulas placed at the top of a slender stem, which threw water into a semicircular basin. The fountain, whose name is unknown, was built based on a design by Giacomo Della Porta and is documented by an engraving by Falda from 1665 in front of Santa Caterina in Magnanapoli, leaning against a wall. Also known as the Trajan Column fountain, it gave its name to the surrounding area and was close since 1590-94 to the Annibaldi della Molara palace in Magnanapoli - existing until the 18th century - to the right of via delle Tre Cannelle coming down from via IV Novembre, on whose area a building with the current typically nineteenth-century structure arose. The location of the fountain close to the palace is confirmed in the plan by Filippo Barigioni from the first half of the 18th century, which also shows a small area overlooking the Palazzo della Molara, delimited by a block: the disappeared Piazza delle Tre Cannelle. The fountain was connected to the Acqua Felice conduit. To feed it, Gasparo della Molara had obtained a concession of two ounces of water from the Municipality in 1558 on the condition that it became a semi-public fountain, with the obligation, also, of maintenance and conservation. However, no traces remain of this primitive fountain, remembered by today's model with a cast iron shaft and three spouts on a shelf of the staircase in via della Cordonata, beyond via IV Novembre where via delle Tre Cannelle continues. TRAJAN'S FORUM The Forum of Trajan, also remembered as Forum Ulpium in some sources, is the largest and most monumental of the Imperial Forums of Rome, the last in chronological order. Built by the emperor Trajan with the war spoils obtained from the conquest of Dacia and inaugurated, according to the Fasti of Ostia, in 112, the Forum was arranged parallel to Caesar's Forum and perpendicular to that of Augustus. The design of the structure is attributed to the architect Apollodorus of Damascus. The complex, which measured 300 m long and 185 m wide, included the Piazza Forense, the Basilica Ulpia, a porticoed courtyard with Trajan's Column and two libraries.
